So on a whim, I decided to skim through the online classifieds, when something special crossed paths with me - a G-body F41 rear sway bar, and boxed control arms. For $50. Now forgive me if I'm wrong, but doesn't a rear bar cure some of the understeer of the G-body cars? !!!error: Indecipherable SUB-paragraph formatting!!! for your viewing.

Stiffer end slides first - so yep, bigger rear bar would make the car more oversteer-y

It's a good deal. the F41 suspension package came on the 84-88 Monte Carlo SS, While it may help, these are still tail happy cars. once the inside rear tire breaks contact, you're spinning.

Before you buy a single upgrade for this car get underneath and inspect all of the suspension parts.
1.) Shocks
2.) Springs
3.) Front end bushings
4.) Sway bar bushings and end links
5.) Rear suspension bushings
6.) Ball joints
7.) Any steering linkage
Replacing old worn out/broken stuff will probably have a noticeable change in the car's handling.

Shocks are almost new
Springs are good
Bushings are meh
The front end-links are good (it has no rear end-links)
Ball-joints are perfect
Steering linkage is good.

Even with an open diff? And it's not full F41, just an F41 rear bar.

Good, because turn-in is glacial.

That's more of an overall stiffness problem, probably with a good dose of under-damped. The bar will help a bit with turn in (it will make the whole car stiffer, slightly), but its main effect will be on steady state cornering.

yeah, but still for $50 I would pick it up.
This is the closest Aftermarket one.

Mind you, I am comparing it to a Toyota Echo. That might be the problem.

If its already tail happy, the bigger rear bar will only make it worse. Go drive around in large circles someplace gradually gaining speed. If the car actively tries to destroy the outside front tire and push out of the turn, get the bar. Otherwise leave it alone.

Must pick it up. $50 is a bargain.

Retry the test after the bar is installed to make sure it doesn't try to swap ends on you.

It can't rotate as is. It just can't.
